Lions Clubs International is the world’s largest secular service organisation, with around 1.4 million members in 203 countries was founded by Melvin Jones in 1917. Australian Lions Clubs are a part of community life; you will find Lions clubs in cities and in the country. The clubs are easily identified by their distinctive Logo, the trademark of the Association, and the 'We Serve'; motto seen on road signs throughout the country.
Membership is open to all people of the community in good standing and is usually by invitation but applications are welcome.
Clubs may either provide service or raise money for their community. Most of the money raised goes back into the community, either directly or indirectly through Local, National and International Projects.
